Abstract: The project “Interaction of genomic and dietary aspects in gastric cancer risk: the global StoP project (GenoStop)” aims to advance the understanding of gastric cancer through an innovative and multidisciplinary approach. By integrating epidemiological, genetic, and environmental data and using the resources of the international Stomach Cancer Pooling (StoP) Project consortium, the project seeks to identify new risk factors and develop advanced diagnostic tools for more effective prevention. The research relies on a network of international experts to produce concrete results with real clinical applicability.
The project includes three research Work Packages:
WP1 – Analysis of diet, lifestyle, and risk factors, including rare exposures.
WP2 – Investigation of risk factors in rare patient subgroups.
WP3 – Development of a Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) and an integrated predictive model.
Three partners participate in the project, bringing expertise in epidemiology, genetics, biostatistics, and public health:
UCSC (Rome) coordinates the proposal and leads the genetic component of the consortium;
UNIMI serves as the consortium’s data center;
UNIBO is a member of the Executive Committee and plays a key role in data analysis.
