Abstract: Envision a Europe in which every cancer patient, regardless of their location, benefits from equitable access to state-of-the-art medical care and the most advanced therapeutic innovations. This vision lies at the heart of the Joint Action European Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centres (EUnetCCC), a groundbreaking initiative launched in October 2024 under Flagship 5 of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and co-funded by the EU4Health programme.

Joint Action EUnetCCC is committed to realising this vision by building on the foundation established by the Joint Action CraNE (October 2022–September 2024). The initiative has an ambitious target to reach at least 100 Comprehensive Cancer Centres (CCCs) by 2028 and to create a cohesive, integrated network of centres that are either certified as CCCs or are in the process of preparing for certification. Through these efforts, the initiative will contribute greatly to ensure that 90% of eligible patients across Europe have access to high-quality, evidence-based care throughout the entire cancer continuum, regardless of their geographical location.

Bringing together 163 partner institutions from 31 countries, Joint Action EUnetCCC aims to advance cancer care through an inclusive certification framework, sustainable cross-centre partnerships emerging through a membership organisation, the seamless integration of cutting-edge research with clinical practice, and orchestrating network-based collaboration between CCCs to enhance advancement of care and research.

To achieve this, Joint Action EUnetCCC is structured into 9 dedicated work packages each focusing on a key aspect of building a strong, collaborative European cancer network to drive the mission of the Joint Action forward. With this bold commitment, Joint Action EUnetCCC is set to transform the landscape of comprehensive cancer care and establish new benchmarks for excellence, equity, and innovation throughout Europe.
