Abstract: The project involves 10 Operational Units across 5 Italian regions (Friuli Venezia Giulia, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lazio, and Sicily). Its overarching goal is to provide knowledge on environmental exposure during the first 1,000 days of life and to implement interventions aimed at reducing exposure risks. The specific objectives are as follows:
Develop knowledge on the cumulative exposure to outdoor and indoor pollutants, as well as climatic factors, during the first 1,000 days of life, and on the associated health risks.
Communicate the new knowledge generated by the project to parents, citizens, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers, while also providing guidance on risk reduction.
Implement a communication intervention on these topics through a specially developed app, which will be distributed to women in various Italian regions during pregnancy and the early months of their child’s life. The app will also integrate daily air pollutant level data provided by ARPA.
Promote integrated training initiatives on environmental health and climate during the first 1,000 days of life.
